The third trip

Wednesday June 26th

04.45 I just got out of bed. I spent the night at Christer’s place. Today is the big day.

05.40 I am on the train station of Sundsvall. I am alone, well almost, there is a man sleeping on a bench.

06.17 The train is on its way towards Stockholm.

11.52 After some lunch, we are on our way to Nynashamn and the ferry.

13.55 At the ferry terminal after we had pizza. I tried to get some coffee, it failed, the handle broke from the kettle.

14.22 The ticket is paid for, around $ 100 per person. Now, we are resting in the sun and await the second half of the game between Brazil and Turkey. We listen to it on the radio.

16.19 Onboard the ferry, We have a cabin with window but no shower.

20.40 First I loaded my cellular phone out in the corridor, after that was it dinnertime. Now, time to sleep.

Thursday June 27th

10.30 We have slept for eleven hours and we´re still sleepy. After a shower and some breakfast, we´ll hope everything is OK again.

POLAND

12.20 After some trouble at the customs office, they closed, as it was our time and we had to change line, are we now on the bus to Gdansk Glowny.

14.40 On our way by train to Bydgoszcz, in a compartment of our own. Outside it is raining, in here two sleepy guys.

15.40 Finally, the meeting train is here. We have been waiting for 20 minutes.

15.52 We still haven’t moved. This trip could have started better.

17.47 We have reached today’s goal. We are staying at Hotel Agat in Bydgoszcz, next to the station. We have a bedroom, a TV-room and a bathroom with a bathtub.

21.28 Back after we´ve done the town. We have bought some breakfast (milk and bread), a little to eat now (beer and snacks) and for Christer some Aspirin for his terrible headache.

Friday June 28th

09.15 The first morning on polish soil. I have a cold and Christer has a headache. Time for breakfast.

11.58 In fifteen minutes the train will leave for Torun.

13.01 I sure am getting appetite for travelling or am I just hungry?

14.18 Sits and gathers power on a bench near the Old Town of Torun. Soon we will head for tourist office to get a room for the night.

15.11 It wasn’t easy to get a room since there is some music festival in the town. But we have a room at Dom Wyicieczkowy. We share room with two other guys.

18.21 A new short pause, now by the river. Next to us there is a band playing on the festival.

Saturday June 29th

07.44 Just woke up and I am still tired. In an hour the train will leave for a new destination.

10.06 At the station, we got here by bus. I just had breakfast, hamburger with lots of shredded vegetables. We just boarded the train and it looks like we have to stand up.

10.15 This is so great. We are sitting down. A nice gentleman showed us these seats.

15.46 Back in Lublin and back at Hotel Piast. We were here on our trip in 2000. The trip here was with a crowded train. In the compartment, it was eight people. The only bright thing, a cat visited us.

19.16 We have walked around in Lublin, visited the Old Town and heard a band play near the castle. Now we are resting on a bench before dinner.

19.54 We are sitting down at Piao. It is time for dinner. By some other tables here are eight policemen waiting for their food.

20.29 Still waiting for the food. What has happened to this place? Two years ago was it a great place.

21.50 Back at home. The ones that served us sure took it slow. We couldn’t take it slow back here. We almost had to run before they closed at 22.00.

Sunday June 30th

07.05 What a night. Christer’s stomach is far from well and my bed is in the same mood. The stripes that are supposed to hold the mattress are falling apart. To deal with Christer’s problems will we stay here yet a night. To deal with mine, well I will move down the mattress on the floor.

09.08 To move down was a great idea. I hope some rest will make Christer feel better.

13.48 I just have seen first half of the final in the soccer world championships. Halfway in it a drunken man fell over me. He was asked to leave by the lady in the reception.

15.26 Brazil won the final, that’s good. Christer is feeling worse, that’s bad.

18.33 Christer is sleeping and I am hungry.

20.22 Christer is still sleeping but I am not hungry. I just had dinner at a restaurant not far from here.

21.48 Time to sleep. I pray we will travel tomorrow. I am getting fed up with this place.
