Thursday 20th of April

07.32 I temperarely woke up. It is full activity here at the Youth Hostel. What ever might happen today? I guess I will now later.

09.12 Another great breakfast have just been eaten. Now it is time to plan the day. The breakfast was a buffet served in a dining room.

09.55 There are no big plans yet. There is no rush. It is after all vacation. I have although unpacked my shoes suited for mountain climbing.

Wonderful view from a bus stop.

10.16 Just as we were about to reach the bus stop the bus got there and also left. Now we are seated and await the next bus in line.

10.49 We are back in Vaduz. There is still no bus to take us to Malbun. Malbun is the place where we plan to go today. While we wait we have decided to go to Café Amann for a cup of coffee. The cups just got here, great. We are allowed to sit down until 11.30. After that the tables are booked.

11.22 The coffee was great. We decided to leave the cafe. Pretty soon Roberth had to return to get his little blue notebook that he had left behind. Now we are on the bus to Malbun. The ticket is expensive (around $ 6) but it is valid for the whole day and country, at least we hope so. Now we began to climb the mountain side. The view over the Rhine valley keeps getting better and better.

Breathtaking views of the valley between Liechtenstein and Switzerland.

11.42 We left the views and other passengers behind us. The journey carried on through a one-way tunnel and in to the snowy village Steg.

11.50 We just reached Malbun. The bus driver has just informed us that with only one exception all places are closed for the season. Such things happen! Time to explore the village and its surroundings. The village is a ski resort, the only one in the country.

View from Malbun towards the valley heading to Steg.

Jesus with his family in a mountain cave.

The perfect holiday photo.

12.10 We just sat down on a bench by the mountain side. Below us in the valley is Malbun. The sun is shining and the mountaintops glisten. The air is clear and birds sing beautifully. Roberth and I have bare feet. On the way here we saw Jesus with family and visitors in a cave. Christmas theme in Easter time.

12.57 We slid down the trail and has after a stop returned to the bus stop. We are waiting to be let inside the bus.

Jeder gute Gast, findet hier Rast.

13.02 The ticket was approved and we began to descend. Right now the bus stopped.

13.30 We left the bus in Triesenberg and we decided after walking around for a while to get us some lunch from the local confectionery and bakery M Schädler. Now we just have to find a place to have our picnic. The woman at Schädler imitated a pig as she presented what kind of sausages she had.

The Schädler bakery in Triesenberg gave us a good lunch.

14.00 We found ourselves a green area next to some trees just by the bus stop Täscherloch. All of us got bare feet. It is time for lunch!

14.57 When we had our lunch we once again began walking downhill. After that we had walked along the road and down some slopes we have found a walkway that pass a field of wood anemones. By one of the slopes we saw a roe.

Beautiful but hard walk between Triesenberg and Triesen.

15.15 We, after encountering an angry pug, got out on the main road via Weiherstrasse. Just as we were about to get out on the road a bus came and left. Now we ceased walking and sat down at bus stop Vaschiel to wait for a bus.

15.38 We are back on the benches by the post office in Vaduz. Now we will just relax. Just nearby the is stock market of Liechtenstein. We also saw the stock market in Zurich. Our guide book have taught us that this country has "ask no questions-banks" and that the castle above town is home for prince Hans Adam II. We wonder if he might have some unmarried daughters, because we like it here.

16.53 Today is a calm day. We are sitting in front of the town hall. It feels ever so great. Here are some weird statues of horses and a weather station that has informed us that it is +19°.

18.03 We have walked through the town to see more of it. Let´s see now if we will buy some breakfast at Coop before we head for dinner.

A walk along the smaller streets of Vaduz.

18.25 We decided to shop later this evening. We also decided to have dinner at Old Castle Inn. Beer is ordered and soon we order our meals.

19.18 We had an excellent last supper here in Vaduz. Now we are ready to go home and here comes the bus.

Dinner at Old Castle Inn.

20.10 We are finally back. Before going home we did some shopping at Denner in Schaan. On our way home Roberth managed to scare the living daylights out of a girl. She came walking backwards along the street towards us and suddenly turned around facing Roberth. She screamed and her friends and we began to laugh.

21.10 We are summing up the day. Tomorrow we will go abroad several times.

21.35 Roberth, who lost the draw, is about to go to sleep on the mattress on the floor. Outside our window some guys are speaking Italian.

Friday 21st of April

06.35 I woke up twenty minutes ago. After that followed breakfast, yoghurt and bread. Now I sit here dressed and ready to leave. All that remains is to pack the final stuff and bring back the bed sheets.

07.35 On our way to the bus stop a car stopped for Christer who waited by the zebra crossing. The man in the car behind had to step on his breaks and the tyres screamed. We just entered the bus to Feldkirch in Austria. A new country for Roberth.

AUSTRIA

07.51 That was that. We rolled into Austria, coming up Feldkirch. We earlier had a fellow passenger with platform shoes. He told Roberth about the travel plan for the bus.

08.10 We just reached the railway station of Feldkirch. Before we entered here we decided to withdraw some money. Now Roberth is eating breakfast, Christer is about to write a note about where we are going. Great to have since we are about to buy tickets. Me on my hand have no specific mission.

Railway station in Feldkirch

08.35 We ditched the note that Christer wrote and him and I went and bought tickets from a ticket-machine. Now I just finished my morning coffee.

08.42 Just a moment ago a train rolled in and a voice in the loud speaker greeted the travellers welcome to Feldkirch. The announcement ended with ”die nächste anschluss”. I thought the Austrians were fed up with Anschluss after world war 2. Right now I am watching two men standing and walking on a two piece ladder each.

08.54 Right now passes a new train with an old touch. It is no less then the Orient express.

09.07 We just boarded a new train. This will take us to Bregenz.

Roberth travelling by train through Austria.

Inside the train Feldkirch-Bregenz.

09.37 After that we had passed Götzis famous for its decathlon we are now in Riedenburg famous for...?, well I don’t know. There was a river that ran through the town. Soon Bregenz.

10.24 We are sitting by a lake again. This time we ended up near Lake Constance by Bregenz. Soon it is time for coffee. Before we left the station we placed our backpacks in a locker and bought tickets back to Zürich airport.

Beautiful house in Bregenz.

Christer and Peter on a Bregenz street.

10.33 We are sitting at table 17 at Der Eispavillion am See. We just ordered something to eat and drink. Apple strudel (Apfelstrudel) and coffee for Roberth and me. Coffee and pizza for Christer.

Bodensee (Lake Constance)

Apfelstrudel eaten..

Fünf, fünf, nicht fünf... Roberth is counting coins.

12.02 We are now strolling around in Bregenz. The sun is shining and we hear church bells.

12.25 We are resting in a small pavilion that stretches out in the lake. We are stretching our bare feet over the floor.

Resting a few steps out in the Bodensee.

12.41 Our peaceful moment was just rudely interrupted by a German speaking group of tourists. They asked us to take a picture of them. I realised it was the only way to get rid of them. I got up wand walked barefooted to take the picture. They thanked me in both German and French.

13.18 We are sitting on some stands. Here they are preparing for some opera, Der Troubadur by Verdi. The scene is a huge red painted steel construction that lays out in the water.

Roberth is in his chair very early for the summer opera.

14.01 Lunch time at restaurant Wienerwald (www.wienerwald.at). We ordered food and beer.

14.56 It was delicious and the prices were quite reasonable. Now we returned to the station to fetch our backpacks and embark the train.

looking back on a good trip.

15.30 Just passed the border between Switzerland and Austria. We left the European Union without the slightest border control.

SWITZERLAND

15.47 At last we are in St. Gallen. Here a group of kids got off. I will not miss their song- and clap games. Nor their endless playing with their cell phones.

16.46 We reached the airport in Zurich. Our train journey was over and now we are preparing our backpacks for the journey home.

17.27 Since last time things have happened to all of us. As we were checking in Christer’s backpack had to ride in a sledge with a seatbelt. They thought that the straps on the backpack might be a problem. I bought me a beer from Mongolia. As Roberth was about to by presents, among them something that sounded like a sheep or was it a cow?, he just emptied a fist full of money on the counter.

18.13 We sat down for some afternoon coffee. We are doing our best to kill the coffee thirst and get rid of the coins. We are sitting in Bye Bye Bar near check-in 2. The prices are beyond high, a cupcake and some Coca Cola cost around $ 5-6.

18.51 We had no problems passing the passport and security control. Another passenger got caught in the last place and had to enter a small booth. Soon the bus to the aeroplane will be here.

SWEDEN

22.56 To fly went smoothly. We saw some of Sweden’s great lakes from the air. It took some time to pass the passport control and then we had to walk quiet a distance. The backpacks beat us again. Now we are having wok and pasta from Seven Eleven.

23.50 The day and the trip has come to its end. Coffee has been drunk and within half an hour we will be onboard the final transportation. The final thing is a train ride to Sundsvall for Christer and I. For Roberth the train will carry on to Östersund. Our travelling is over for this time but new plans are set....of course..

Afterwords

Truthahn is turkey.

The guys at the Youth Hostel were in Liechtenstein to take part in the volleyball championship for small countries. It took place in Schaan. The Italian we heard was spoken by guys from San Marino.
