Sunday 7th of August

08.30 It is morning again here in our house. We stay at Petit Baie Chalets in Au Cap, a village on the east coast of the island of Mahé in the Seychelles. We should probably make something out of this day even though it is Sunday, the day of rest.

09.20 There is not much variety in our breakfasts now that we have the responsibility. Gone are the sausages, bacon, eggs to decline and the mixed fruit. The main thing, however, is that it exists.

10.27 It is quiet around us. Many in this neighbourhood are in the church at this time. The reading of books, for my part, even a crossword, and general lethargy is what's happening right now. This is holiday at the end of our vacation.

11.27 Our plans to go and shop for something in our nearby store just failed. The store is closed. We expect that the staff are in the church because we have previously been told that they are open all days of the week.

12.01 It has now become time to start working in the kitchen. We want to have lunch today as well.

The tired tortoises have woken up.

One of the tortoises greeted us with a flower in the mouth.

Dark skies and low tide.

Christer is checking how deep it is.

The wonderful beach in Au Cap.

12.56 Soft ballads are played on the radio in the kitchen and we hear the birds sing out there. We are on our way outside. New land should be broken, land where few have been, land where it sometimes is wet.

13.11 On the way down to the sea, we looked at the two giant turtles here at the property. One of them walked up to us. It picked up a flower and raised the head. Did it want to bring us a flower or was the turtle just hungry? We want to believe in the first option.

13.20 Our plans to go out on the sea bottom exposed by low tide, ebb, has failed. There is not enough low water this day. We had hoped to be able to wander outwards towards the coral reef when there was so little water but it does not work now. Honking cars passed on the road and flags was stuck from the windows of the cars. Is it a national feast day or?

13.48 The flags were from different political parties. It is parliamentary elections in October. We wonder how many seats the country's parliament have?

14.50 We shall, with the mulatto coffee in the guts, go back to the sea. The mulatto coffee is our name on the instant coffee with milk powder. Sometimes there will be errors when you are buying. Our store was apparently closed due to providing of groceries. No visit to the church as we thought.

15.19 After a bit of searching and wandering, we have found a piece of beach without too many other Sunday bathers. We are a short distance away from our accommodation, still here in Au Cap. Afternoon swimming and sunbathing is planned. The sun burns too much in the middle of the day.

Our closed shop has opened again.

It´s time for a Sunday afternoon at the beach.

Peter is writing down the latest notes during our beach visit.

Sunday afternoon in Au Cap.

Christer is entering the ocean.

15.55 It is shallow here, which is a bit of a shame. However, it is nice in the water, which is constantly rising, flushing everything higher up. We are on the road against high tide again.

17.17 It is nice having a swim in the sea but you get sticky and salty. There is, however, a remedy, the shower. We are thus at home in our house again.

19.03 The flying foxes are back in the trees and the air. Dusk has fallen like a black silk cloth around us. Soon there will be no more evenings in Africa. Honking cars, screaming people and music can be heard in the evening.

20.05 We are doing other stuff while we wait for the pasta water to boil.

21.07 Manchester United's won over Leicester City in the FA Community Shield match between the cup champions and league champions in English football. Zlatan Ibrahimovic scored the victory goal.

21.57 Two of the trips last evening of beers will soon be consumed.

Peter is trying to take a photo of the flying foxes.

Christer is relaxing in the tropical evening.

Monday 8th of August

07.52 The night has turned to morning here in the Seychelles. The last week of this summer trip has begun. Swimmer Sarah Sjöström from Sweden has won a gold in Rio de Janeiro. She won the 100 meter butterfly with a new world record time.

10.56 The morning hours and minutes goes fast when we're not doing anything in particular. Soon it is time to go down to the store and buy something for the last meals. We will also find out where the beach and sea meet. Is it possible to go out to the reef today?

11.15 It is difficult not to say impossible to shop. The store is closed. The sea still covers the bottom. We hope that it will pull back so that we can walk, splash out a bit. We want to see some wildlife in the small puddles that remain at the ebb.

11.46 We have filled up with coffee. Now it's time to add the finishing touches to our intended hike.

12.15 Our store is still not open. Our hostess claim that the owner is doing some more providing. It does not go quite as planned today. We have asked how long we can stay tomorrow. We do not fly until the afternoon. She will find out and inform us later. It depends on when the next guests show up.

Clouds are hovering above Au Cap.

We are looking towards the reef.

Back at Julianas Café again.

12.32 I do not understand. This Friday there was barely any water outside of where we are now. Today we got plenty of water. The time is exactly the same. We have even checked the photos we took of the dogs that freely walked around looking at the reef, strange!

13.20 The sea do not do as we want. The store does not act as we want. Now we get to think again and want something else.

13.34 We have thought, pondered and planned. The time has come to look for food. After that we will catch a bus to a new beach.

13.46 It is time for lunch. Juliana's Cafe is open and we have received our food. We can't have lunch at home so it will be here. The options are not too many here in our village.

14.35 We are at the bus stop in front of Juliana's Cafe. Today we are going to ride the bus in the other direction, to the south. The first bus went just past. The bus after let us ride.

14.49 We stepped out of the bus as it stopped in the main town of Anse Royale. A former teacher colleague of Christer used to work in this town. It is time for the last swim of this trip.

15.30 We settled with; tanning, hiking and photography. There was no swim. A swim, bath would make us wet and salty. We intend to go into a store and shop here in Anse Royale. The risk is, of course, that our shop at home remain closed. It is so nice to visit the beaches here in Seychelles. The ones we visited have been entirely free from vendors and other annoying people you usually meet at the beach in other countries.

15.35 We found some small fishes in a puddle that is formed where the sea washes in. Speaking of fish. Time to go shopping!

We just got out of the bus in Anse Royale.

Anse Royale, this afternoon´s destination.

On the other side of the beach you can find the church Saint Joseph Travailleur.

Wonderful blue water.

The beach in Anse Royale.

A big wave left some fish behind.

16.01 We are, after having purchased some ingredients for dinner and more coffee in the very expensive ISPC Supermarket Fresh, now waiting for a bus with seats for us. The one that just left was crowded. Here comes the next. In the store we had to have the backpacks in the baskets when we shopped.

16.27 Our small village shop was open so we went where before the homecoming.

17.11 We were just about to look up the hostess for payment and more information regarding tomorrow. Barely had we begun to act as there was a knock on our door. It was our hostess. With her she had a card reader and an answer. We can just stay until the regular check out time. There are new guests, clients arriving in the middle of the day tomorrow.

18.40 Time for some boring news. Today is the Earth Overshoot Day. We have now consumed the natural resources that can be produced in a year. Last year this happened on the 13th of August. 2014 it was the 19th of August. In 2000 it was the 9th of November.

19.53 We are getting ready to prepare for the cooking of our last dinner here at Petit Baie Chalets. We have also done some planning for the upcoming trip around New Years Eve.

21.02 It was a delicious meal consisting of pasta and very expensive burgers. We had wine for our meal, Toro loco.

22.34 The time has come to become serious. It is time to pack.

23.39 We are moving towards the last night and last sleep in this country. It has just started to rain. It has not been too common in our travels in Africa. Not a single drop of rain fell in the trip of 2012. Enough about the rain and other things. It is time to go to sleep.

The best of our flying fox photos.

Mahé, the only island we visited here on the Seychelles.

Tuesday 9th of August

08.26 Our last morning in the house is here. The local birds are, after a short and intense rain, singing again. Next awaits breakfast and final packing.

09.39 We are pleased and satisfied. It is time to put down the final belongings. Today we served ourselves a slices of toast, marmalade, coffee, fruit juice and litchi. We are, given the rain, the overcast weather, considering to ask to be driven to the airport earlier than planned. We would rather sit there than out in the open. Rain and high humidity leads to wet clothes.

10.26 Now we have left the key and found out if it is okay to go to the airport now. We were suggested to do an island excursion, but turned it down. We wish to fly; rested, free from sweat and fresh. Now we sit and await our transport.

10.54 We have sat in the chairs outside the lounge. OK, now the transport is here. The driver, might be the father of our hostess, has bags but no guests or clients as the hostess says.

11.07 Now it has become our turn to be transported. Our backpacks are in the trunk and we are belted in the back seat. Now we go to the airport.

Our last breakfast contained a bit of this and that.

Peter is writing down a few more words in this summer´s travel journal.

The kitchen in our house.

Peter is waiting for our airport transport.

11.17 We have said merci and thanks to our driver. We are back at the airport, Seychelles International Airport. This time, we are more rested and everything feels nice and positive.

12.32 It is an open space that we sit in. We have the backs out on to the road for passengers embarking and disembarking. People with and without luggage are passing in front of us. One has left his bag next to our bench. More and more monitors light up at the check-in counters. There are not too many flights from here during the day.

13.25 We have, in order to keep hunger away and also to get rid of banknotes and coins, arranged with coffee at the airport cafe. We hope for a smoother journey home, than the last two summer trips. Last year's trip with a missed flight in Brazil and backpacks on the wrong track is no pleasant memory.

14.27 It has become time to leave this behind us and start to queue for check in.

15.03 After check in we went to show passports and be approved by the security control.

It is quiet and peaceful at Seychelles International Airport.

This day´s flights from the Seychelles.

We are waiting at the airport café.

The plane from Ethiopian Airlines has arrived.

15.28 We are just sitting here and read in our books as a woman pops up. She appeals to Christer with Sir. She wonders if she can leave her two bags with us. She is about to pay a visit to the powder room. People seem to trust in us. This is the second time today that bags have been placed next to us.

16.22 In order to have something to do and to ease the wallets we bought a Mirinda orange and a fruit salad each at Café Paradiso. We have also donated money to an organization that helps animals, the S. S. P. C. A (http://seyspca.webs.com)

16.42 Boarding time is getting closer and closer. Soon we are once again on board an aircraft.

16.58 Today we have the seats 19 K, and L. As usual on an aircraft there are information on the life jacket and that it should have your seat belt on while seated. The language this is written in is English. The second is Amharic. I will not write that by hand.

CHANGING TIME ZONE

19.15 We are approaching Addis Ababa. Time is Ethiopian. It feels good to soon get out of the aircraft.

ETHIOPIA

20.08 We are back at the airport in Addis Ababa, Bole International Airport. It is about 40 days since we passed through here in the beginning of the journey. Here it will be a few hours wait. It gives the staff plenty of time to calmly reload the baggage. Hopefully all of our luggage will fly with us this time.

21.30 People with varying skin colours and clothing styles are walking past. One and another has a neck pillow around the neck, the arm or attached to their luggage.

23.10 We have risen and started to queue to the gate. It seems to be the security control first.

23.57 It took some time to go through but now we have arrived at the gate. This time I have, unlike last year, sandals on my feet.

Finally we are in the air.

Souvenir shop at Bole International Airport.

Wednesday 10th of August

00.05 OK, not much time to sit and relax. The gate has opened!

00.52 It took its sweet little time to board the plane. The passengers were allowed to board on the oh-so-slowly pace.

CHANGING TIME ZONE

03.10 We have set our watches to Swedish time. We are saturated and pretty pleased. It is time to get some sleep.

06.19 We have landed at the Vienna international airport in Austria. Within a few moments begins the final flight to Arlanda.

07.21 Just before we lifted again the staff were asked to sit and prepare for landing. It was quickly changed to that they would be ready for the start. Now we are on the way to Arlanda. Are our backpacks with us onboard? Last year they flew before us from Brazil, but came to Sweden after us. This also happened to Christer's backpack at the beginning of the journey.

Passengers enter the plane.

08.37 We are about to land on Swedish soil.

08.59 It is strange that people can sit for hours during the flight quite calm but as soon as the plane landed, they absolutely need to get up and stand and walk, preferably before the plane has come to a stop. Why this panic? Most will still stand for a long time to wait for their bags.

SWEDEN

09.29 We have made a short stop on the way to the baggage belt. Christer change vision aids. The glasses he used during the night is shifted to the today's contact lenses.

10.15 Our backpacks have arrived, all in one piece but far from clean. However, it is self-inflicted and no shadow should fall on the flight. Over a month's journey has soiled our backpacks. Now, they are temporarily locked up in the lockers 02-25.

11.47 After a cheese and ham baguette with orange drink we thought we'd treat us some coffee at Starbucks at the SkyBridge. There was no name hassle this time, but a coffee mistake. Christer's Americano Grande had became polluted with milk. He was, however, offered a new coffee and a credit note for any Tall coffee.

12.57 We are back on the bench we sat at after the New Year and Easter trip. It is time to think about if and where we eat lunch. Will it be on the SkyGrill, the New Orleans or Alfredo?

Coffee and internet at Starbucks, Arlanda.

13.50 We choose SkyGrill and today's pasta. Thank God it was small portions. It feels as if our stomachs have shrunk. We were filled pretty quick.

14.30 We are once again on the platform under the ground at Arlanda. With us we have our backpacks. It was good to check them out.

14.49 The train rolls away. Here in the carriage 2, is a bunch of young people. Their leader has apparently arbitrarily placed them. The result of this is that they sit on the places that others have booked.

16.17 The young ones a loud from time to time. A bit of a shame that they can't respect us. I shall not blame them all. Most of them behave.

18.00 Not much remains for Christer and me. The female conductor have offered us places in another carriage because of the loud young people. Had it not have been more logical to ask them to calm down? Welcome to Sweden, the country in which the adult world always surrender for children and young people.

18.14 In a chilly and rainy Sundsvall, the two globetrotters say thanks for this time and all the best till the next time. The same I say to those of you who followed us. It may be that you've done it for several years, this year, this journey or maybe just read this. We find great pleasure in sharing what we experienced and maybe inspire others.

Lunch at SkyGrill, Arlanda airport.
